About Maxilla Fracture

Upper-jaw fractures and the middle of the face.

The upper jaw is joined to the nose, cheekbones, and eye sockets, so fractures here often involve more than one bone. A changed bite, an upper jaw that moves, nosebleeds, swelling around the eyes, or numbness of the cheek can all be signs.

A CT scan shows the fracture pattern. Repair usually restores the correct bite first, then fixes the bones with small plates so that the height and width of the face are rebuilt.
