About Orbit Fracture

Injuries around the eye socket.

A blow to the eye can break the thin bones of the socket floor or walls. Double vision, an eye that looks sunken, numbness of the cheek, or pain on moving the eye are reasons for prompt review. Any loss of vision needs emergency care.

Not every orbital fracture needs surgery. When it does, the socket is rebuilt with a thin plate or mesh that supports the eye in its normal position. Eye specialists are involved when the eye itself has been injured.
