Neck Swelling

What this visit covers.

Assessment of a lump or swelling in the neck to identify the cause and plan appropriate investigation or treatment.

01

Finding the cause

A neck swelling is not a diagnosis by itself. Discuss its history and previous investigations before deciding the next step.

02

Your assessment

The consultation brings together your examination, medical history, and any existing reports. Further investigations are discussed according to the findings.

03

Your care plan

Discuss the proposed treatment, alternatives, recovery, and follow-up with Dr. Saha. The plan is individual to your diagnosis and care needs.

About Neck Swelling

A lump in the neck has many possible causes.

Most neck swellings are lymph nodes that enlarge during an infection and settle within a few weeks. A lump that persists, keeps growing, feels hard, or comes with a mouth ulcer, hoarseness, or difficulty swallowing needs specialist assessment.

Assessment usually includes a full examination of the mouth and throat, an ultrasound or scan, and a fine-needle sample. Finding the source first matters: removing a lump before its cause is known can make later treatment more difficult.
